The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has introduced a new betting platform for Canadian players in the form of in-play betting. The option to place in play bets on top sporting events over the internet was introduced through the BCLC’s PlayNow.com site which offers regulated gambling to players.
The iGaming Vice President for the BCLC, Rhonda Garvey said that the corporation has listened to its players and enhanced its sports betting in order to offer players the best possible gaming experience. She said that players could now have access to a wider variety of sports, including hockey and tennis on a safe and regulated site.
Live odds for the new in-play online sports betting platform will be supplied by the Irish gambling giant, Paddy Power, while software is to be supplied by OpenBet, a UK company.
Garvey said that OpenBet and Paddy Power provided the BCLC with the expertise to deliver the very best sports betting products for its players.
The CEO of the London based OpenBet, David Loveday, said that after being the BCLC’S first software provider to offer secure online casino games, the group was excited to be involved in the next phase of development. He said that the BCLC had sought a partner which allowed flexibility to upgrade its sports offering to make it competitive, and he believed that OpenBet had provided the corporation with the support and expertise it demanded.
This is the first time that a Canadian province has offered this type of gambling platform, which is also linked to PlayNow’s other excellent products, including games, poker, lottery and bingo.
