Iconic football team, Manchester United has signed a three year deal with online betting firm, Bwin.Party, it was announced recently. Under the terms of the deal, Bwin will run betting kiosks at Man Utd’s home base, Old Trafford, and will also advertise its products and services at the field. Most importantly, however, Bwin’s bookmaker services will be integrated into the Premier League club’s official website.
According to the co-Chief Executive Officer of Bwin.Party, Norbert Teuefelberger, Manchester United is one of the biggest names in the world sport and has a global fan base which runs into hundreds of millions. He said that Bwin.Party shares a passion for football which has always been at the heart of Bwin’s ling term brand development strategy.
Teufelberger added that as Europe’s leading online sports betting operator, football is fundamental to Bwin’s long term success and made up around half its total sports betting revenues of just over £200 million last year.
The co-CEO said that as well as supporting Bwin’s real money gaming business, the contract between the two parties complements its recent move into social gaming. According to Teufelberger, Manchester United has a staggering 570 million followers outside of Europe, which provides the two entities with the perfect opportunity to jointly offer designed and innovative products in countries which do not yet allow real money online sports betting such as the United States.
The Commercial Director for Manchester United, Richard Arnold said that Bwin.Party has an established reputation in the online gambling business in Europe, and the team was pleased to be bringing that model to the 75,000 football fans who visit Old Trafford each week, as well as the millions of Man Utd fans around the globe.
