Introduction to Mahjong
Mahjong is a beautiful and intricate game of Chinese origin involving sets of tiles. The aim of the game is to form complete suits, usually suits of three, from between 13 to 16 tiles. The winner is the first player to have built all complete suits, with the winning tile ending the game with a set of 14 to 17 tiles.
Some believe that Mahjong was inspired by Confucius, while others believe that it arose during the time of the Chinese dynasties. Irrespective of its roots, Mahjong has always held an aura of mystery and intrigue, especially for Western players who ‘discovered’ the game in the 1920s. Since that period, Mahjong has experienced bouts of popularity, with the most recent revival in the online form.
Our next post will be more details on the history of Mahjong and how to play.

Online Tournament Blackjack – The Latest Craze
Multiplayer blackjack tournaments are the latest craze in the online gaming world. This superb and exciting pastime used to be restricted to poker players alone, but has now spilled over into the world of blackjack and there is reason to celebrate. Multiplayer tournaments take game play to new heights and only once a player has experienced the thrills will he understand what he was previously losing out on.
In multiplayer blackjack tournaments, players get to bet against one another and not against the house as in regular online blackjack. The aim of the tournament is to win as many chips as possible, and the player with the most chips is the tournament winner.
Players generally join a tournament by paying the buy-in and House fee according to the requirement of the specific tournament. The money collected from the buy-in goes directly into the prize pool while the House fee is kept by the gaming establishment.
There are two types of tournaments – single-table and multi-table. At the start of single-table tournaments, players will receive a set amount of chips (usually around 1000) while in multi-table tournaments they might receive around 4000 chips. This amount will differ from casino to casino. There is generally no chip accumulation from one level of multi table tournaments to the next and players, therefore, receive a new set of chips at the start of ever level.
Single-Table Tournaments offer only one level of play and come is different forms:
- Shootout Tournaments are played with 2-5 players. As soon as the second player joins the tournament, a 20-second countdown is given allowing time for another player to join. If not, the tournament commences.
- Heads Up Tournaments are for only two players and as soon as two players are logged in, the game begins.
- Sit & Go Single-Table Tournaments are for 3-5 players and begins as soon as there are enough players have registered.
For all these types of tournaments, the buy-in amount, House fee, payout and level structure will vary from tournament to tournament.
Multi-Table Tournaments also come is a number of forms:
- Sit & Go Multi-Table Tournaments consist of a set number of players, seated randomly and begins when the last player joins. The tournament sets the number of hands per level and after each level, the player who collected the highest amount of chips will proceed to the next level. The winner is the player who has collected the most chips at the end of the Final Table round.
- Scheduled Tournaments are similar to Sit & Gos, except there are no limits on the number of participants and registration is done before the start of the event.
- Special Scheduled Tournaments are types of tournaments which are irregular in their prize allocation – usually a large jackpot prize or a luxury item like a car.
Tournaments are a great way for players to build up experience and be exposed to other forms of play. The excitement of betting against other players, as opposed to the casino, is another factor that keeps players coming back for more.

Prime Poker offers a 50% welcome bonus (up to $100.00) when a new player signs on and a further 15% whenever a player’s account is replenished. Whilst other sites offer far greater welcome bonuses, Prime believes that it is a better strategy to keep players happy by not extending themselves too much, entertaining them and keeping them motivated through challenging games.
That said, this does not detract from the generous prizes that players can win. When playing at Prime Poker, exceptional prize pools are available through ring and tournament games, in 5 & 7 card stud as well as Texas Hold ‘em’ games and matches. $30- $50,000 prize pools can be won, and some for as little as a dollar bet.
Combined with these games is the opportunity to stage special private tournaments which further endorse the sort of exclusivity to the site that Prime Poker players experience. It’s a feeling that Prime has tried to encourage - to make players feel secure and welcome, much like playing poker at home.
Prime Poker caters for the player, and makes it easy for them to play, beginning with a simple registration which starts the process, so that within a few seconds a player can be at the tables playing for fun or playing for real money.
The Lobby is the central point where the real action begins, as this is where a player chooses their room and the style of poker that they want to play. Then it’s up to the player who they want to play as, with characters that could have stepped out of the pages of a Jesse May poker novel predominant.
The software platform is provided by Ongame whose network provides over 10,000 players playing regularly throughout the day making the action constant. The online poker school offers tips, hints and ways to win and when a player feels like a change Prime Poker offers its own casino with black jack, craps, roulette and Caribbean poker as another entertaining diversion.
