The local media reports that while some of the larger mainstream operators have welcomed the new taxation, some are concerned that the Irish government is unable is create a level playing field, and some companies will not be taxed.

Earlier plans by the government included a 2% tax and 20% on gross profits, but research by analysts showed that these measures would be too drastic and wouldn’t see the desired effects. The research showed that only 56% of operators would have paid if that was the case.
